Olivia Checa-Dover appears in recent Article 2 inquest

7 April 2022

The inquest into the death of Charlotte Wood concluded on 10 March 2022. Olivia Checa-Dover represented the Chief Constable of Humberside Police, whose officers attended at Miss Wood's home and found her to be in a distressed state. An ambulance was awaited but had not arrived, leading to the officers deciding to convey Miss Wood to hospital themselves, where her condition deteriorated and she sadly died.

The two-week Article 2 inquest was heard before Senior Coroner Professor Paul Marks, who remarked it was one of the most difficult he had presided over.

The jury returned a conclusion of 'misadventure,' accompanied by a narrative. They did not find any causal or contributory failings on the part of the police. The Coroner praised the actions of the officers; he did not make a report to prevent future deaths.
