On 30 March 2021, Baroness Heather Hallett DBE PC held her first pre-inquest review since her appointment as Coroner in the Inquest Touching on the Death of Dawn Sturgess.
Dawn Sturgess died in 2018 having been poisoned by novichok after the attack on Sergei and Yulia Skripal in Salisbury.
In a ruling handed down on 31 March 2021 in R(AM) v Chief Constable of West Midlands Police [2021] EWHC 796 (Admin), Steyn J gave guidance on the consultation requirement for civil injunctions against youths under Part 1 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The Honourable Mr Justice Hilliard today held the second Pre-Inquest Review hearing of the Inquest into the death of Sudesh Amman. He was shot by surveillance officers of the Metropolitan Police Service after he attacked members of the public with a knife in Streatham on 2 February 2020. His victims survived and he was killed.

Robert Cohen has been appointed as an Assistant Coroner for Cumbria. He will work closely with the Senior Coroner as well as conducting his own investigations and inquests.

Judgment was handed down by the Supreme Court (Lords Lloyd-Jones, Hamblen, Leggatt, Burrows, Stephens JJSC) on 19 March 2021 in the important case of G v G [2021] UKSC 9, which dealt with the interaction between the Hague Convention 1980 (which deals with summary return of children abducted from their country of habitual residence) and international, EU and domestic law relating to asylum seekers and refugees. Alan Payne QC and John Goss appeared for the Secretary of State for the Home Department.
