Prime Minister sets the Terms of Reference for the Covid Inquiry

30 June 2022

The Covid Inquiry has been formally established and the final Terms of Reference published. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-covid-19-inquiry-terms-of-reference. All of the recommendations Baroness Hallett made to the Prime Minister following the public consultation, which had over 20,000 responses, have been included.

In a video statement from the Baroness, she talks through the seven promises she has made in relation to how the Inquiry will be run and the ambitious aim of starting the public hearings of evidence in 2023. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtzcrmSInLY

In July, the Inquiry Chair will set out her approach for the next stage of work and a 'listening exercise' is set to start in the Autumn to hear from those who have suffered as a result of the pandemic.
