Gaia Pope inquest commences

Ms Pope was reported missing on 7th November 2017. A missing person search commenced involving Dorset Police, Dorset Search and Rescue, HM Coastguard, the National Police Air Service and volunteers from the local community. Ms Pope’s body was sadly found on 18th November.

The Article 2 inquest touching Gaia’s death will examine wide ranging issues including her medical history, the impact of a prior rape allegation made by her, mental health treatment and the missing person search.

The inquest is scheduled to last 10 weeks.

Beatrice Collier and Amy Clarke are instructed on behalf of Dorset Police. Mark Thomas is instructed on behalf of the IOPC.
