Daniel Hobbs appears as counsel for South Yorkshire Police in misconduct proceedings arising out of the Rotherham Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) scandal

1 March 2022

This week Daniel Hobbs opened the Appropriate Authority’s case against former officer DS Walker who it is alleged failed to record and investigate information about child sexual exploitation in Rotherham.

The information was passed to the former officer between 2009 and 2012, when he was in charge of Rotherham Child Abuse Investigation Unit, by the Risky Business Project – an outreach service that worked with abused children in Rotherham.

Daniel Hobbs acts on behalf of South Yorkshire Police. The hearing has been adjourned to the 21st March when the panel will start to hear evidence.

The case has attracted widespread press coverage including the BBC and ITV.
