Are legal frameworks able to protect us from surveillance in the 21st century?

Silkie Carlo, Director of Big Brother Watch,  will explore whether our current legal framework is adequate to protect us from new technologies. What are the big questions and what challenges do we face? Alan Payne QC will provide an overview of the legislation in this area; and take a look at how the Courts have approached the balance between the need for surveillance and the essential right to privacy.
