Samantha Leek QC and Jonathan Dixey act in the inquest into the death of Dr Abbas Khan

On 13th October 2014 the inquest into the death of Dr Abbas Khan commenced.  Dr Khan, who was a British doctor who had been providing humanitarian assistance, died whilst in prison in Syria.  In opening the inquest the Chief Coroner of England and Wales, HHJ Peter Thornton QC, explained to the jury that amongst the issues that they would consider would be whether Dr Khan took his own life or whether he was killed by his captors.
