New Head of Chambers – Jason Beer QC

5 Essex Chambers is delighted to announce the appointment of Jason Beer QC as our new Head of Chambers. Jason takes on the role from Fiona Barton QC who was appointed in 2010.

Commenting on his appointment, Jason says:

On behalf of everyone at 5 Essex Chambers I would like to thank Fiona for her strong leadership, commitment and contribution over the last 7 years – she is a hard act to follow. I hope to build on the significant success and growth achieved during her tenure in driving our Chambers forward and in ensuring we are continuously enhancing our services for our clients’ evolving needs.”

Fiona says:

“It has been a privilege to be Head of Chambers for the last 7 years and I am grateful for all the support of my talented colleagues. This appointment marks a new era for Chambers and I am delighted to be able to pass the baton to Jason who is highly respected by Members of Chambers and his clients. I know he will do a sterling job and now look forward to supporting him as well as focusing on my clients and practice.”

Jason is a specialist in public law and police law. He took Silk in 2011 and is ranked as a leading practitioner in the major legal directories for ‘police law for defendants’, ‘professional discipline’, ‘public inquiries’ and ‘administrative and public law’.

Chambers also recently welcomed Jo Colton as Chambers Director who will be working closely with Jason and the Management Committee.
