Goddard Inquiry: Jason Beer QC and Jonathan Dixey instructed for the Metropolitan Police Service

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse has today (24 March 2016) held the first preliminary hearing into allegations of child sexual abuse involving children in the care of Lambeth Council.  The Inquiry, chaired by the Hon. Dame Lowell Goddard DNZM, will examine the extent of any institutional failures to protect children in the care of Lambeth Council from sexual abuse and exploitation.

By its investigation, the Inquiry will consider the experience of victims and survivors and examine the scale and nature of the abuse that may have taken place under the care of the relevant authorities.  The Inquiry is to investigate whether there were child protection failures by the Council, the police and other public authorities.

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis is represented by Jason Beer QC and Jonathan Dixey.
