Alex Ustych Nominated for Bar Pro Bono Award 2013
We are pleased to announce that Alex Ustych has been nominated for the 2013 Sydney Elland Goldsmith Bar Pro Bono Award in recognition of his work via the Bar Pro Bono Unit and the Employment Law Association. The nomination recognises that Alex has acted/is acting, unled, in some 12 pro bono cases this year alone (including three cases in the Court of Appeal and two in the Employment Appeal Tribunal) and has demonstrated a commitment to ensuring access to the legal system regardless of means. He combines this pro bono work with his busy practice in police, public and employment law.
Alex’s nomination was supported by his clients, including Kalayaan (a charity for migrant domestic workers), the Health Advisory Group (a charity advocating against the closure of hospital services) and others he assisted in the last 12 months, primarily in the fields of employment law and judicial review/public law.
The winner will be presented with the award at the Bar Council Conference on 2nd November 2013.
